I think the word “kitsch” is a bit harsh is this case

I enjoy listening to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. In the mid ’60s my parents bought one of Herb’s albums, ‘South of the Border’. The seed was planted, decades later growing so that I now have most of the original vinyl LPs. Those albums, selling well at the time, were categorized as pop, MOR or easy-listening, but now in the 21st century I wonder what term(s) best describe them.

And by the way, in a box of candy I received as a gift at work from one of our vendors was a pack of Teaberry chewing gum. (if you are at all familiar with Herb Alpert you’ll understand)

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
