Thanks to last week’s ‘Sunday Morning’ on CBS, I now understand that Sarah Silverman in more than a one ‘Schlep’ act. Not having cable or satellite TV protects me from certain types of information.

On the subject of visiting elderly relatives in Florida, recently, after finally coaxing her to visit an M.D. specializing in ‘gerontology'(?), we’re pretty sure our mother is headed down the path called alzheimers. Based in what he say in the initial exam the doctor immediately put her on ‘Aricept’. Going forward, the lives of my sister and myself will be “interesting”. This isn’t going to be easy. Mom is 78 which is depressing because her mother made it into her 90’s without losing her mental state.

Picked up a used CD which had been on my “want list” for some time – Cowboy Junkies/Whites Off Earth Now. Mmmm, good music for this rainy day.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

  1. My mother-in-law just started on that. The doctor said it won’t reverse anything, but it may slow the progressive decline… it might take five years to get to where she’d be in two without it. We’ll see…
