word of the day

billingsgate (noun-improper) practiced fluency and variety of profane and obscene abuse [i.e. ass kickin’]

The image above is the logo for the Billingsgate record label. The only example I have is a 1973 first album by a band called Lucifer’s Friend. It was given to me in 1976 by someone who didn’t much care for it. At the time I thought it was pretty good and have since come to understand most critics look at if favorably as a good example of rock/metal from that era. Lucifer’s Friend was a German group described as falling somewhere between Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin with comparisons to Uriah Heep. (the lead singer eventually joined Uriah Heep)

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
