The Stoned Apocalypse

“Marco Vassi was, without a doubt, the foremost erotic writer of our generation. Praised by Norman Malier, Kate Millett, Saul Bellow, and Gore Vidal, he was not only the penultimate sexual explorer, but a literary craftsman whose own life experiences became the stuff of his fiction—expanded, of course, by a grand imagination and a full sense of the absurd. Tragically, Vassi died from pneumonia after he had contracted AIDS.” (e-reads)

‘The Stoned Apocalypse’ by Marco Vassi was an interesting read. Chapter 1 covers Vassi’s quest for some sort of spiritual/political enlightenment involving Gurgieff, Communism, LSD and of course, sex. Chapter 2 is more tightly focused in scope but not as intriguing as it covers Vassi’s (ill-fated) exploration into Scientology. Each successive chapter explores another attempt at finding whatever it was he was searching for.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

He had eyes that would have been easy to fall into.
Now, why had I never heard of him before?
