Sunday morning and today’s paper (Charlotte Observer) wasn’t delivered until after 8:15AM. I remember as a teen, staying out late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, the Sunday paper (Jacksonville Times-Union) would often be delivered before I went to bed (usually before 2:00 AM). Then as now I’m about 20-25 miles out from where the printing takes place.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

  1. It’s 8:09 as I write this, and the Detroit Free Press has not made it here yet either – and I live less than five miles from a printing facility. The paper is already on the stands in stores.
This is typical though, and a far cry from when I delivered papers – and I had the added burden of having to avoid being devoured by roaming dinosaurs while on my route.* Eh, perhaps the adrenalin rush contributed to my haste and efficiency in completing the route. Maybe we need to have a few dinosaurs roaming around again.
    Other than me, anyway.
    *Slightly embellished, of course.
