Hi. You probably don’t remember me, but send money anyway.

Yesterday’s mail included a high school graduation invitation. The problem was neither my wife nor I recognized the person’s name. Let’s see, the last name is not familiar. They were probably born in 1990. Who did we know with newborns back then? No one! Finally this morning I looked at the address again and recalled a distant memory. I think the grad is the daughter of one of my first cousins. This is someone (my cousin) I’ve seen maybe twice in 20-30 years and don’t remember her having any kids. But apparently we are close enough that I deserve an invite.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

You should show up and see if they even know who you are when you get there…
or maybe they just bought a big pack of invites and didnt know enough people so just started mailing them out to use them up?
