Welcome, to Mayberry…er, Hooterville..um, Charlotte?

The Charlotte Observer ran a page full of prank articles on April 1st which I just glanced at on Tuesday not realizing they weren’t legit until yesterday. One in particular seemed perfectly normal. It described one network’s remake of ‘Green Acres’. The stars would be Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) and Carmen Electra with a modified storyline of “snooty New York bankers whose jobs were relocated to high growth Charlotte suburbs”. This time around though Arnold the pig would be known as just Ken. (after Ken Thompson, CEO of Wachovia?)

In other news…

Kurt Vonnegut’s son has assembled and published a collection of his father’s letters and other lesser writing. The review I read today was very unfavorable and compared Mark Vonnegut’s efforts as “mausoleum robbing” describing the “slender tome” as something that “smells of the tomb”. That didn’t take long. Dead less than a year, the most recent book by Kurt Vonnegut I read was a collection of his older short fiction which by his own comments wasn’t anything special. Nothing like the later work he is best known for.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
