why I bought the mp3 player…

I mentioned about moving in news ways this week and so far I have. The mp3 I felt was crucial in enjoying these new moves.

Charlotte’s first ‘light rail’ train service went into operation Monday and I was among the early morning riders. The day also started out with another first for me; I rode a city bus – the first time in my 51 years I’d done that. (I’ve previously ridden trains in Atlanta and Chicago but never a bus anywhere) Light rail has been under construction and in the news for years here but I hadn’t seriously considered riding because I’m not close to a station. When I discovered Charlotte was implementing new bus routes specifically to connect potential train riders to the train stations and I saw one was convenient for me, I was sold. The bus/train combination adds about 30 minutes onto my time away from home but not having the stress of driving all the way into downtown Charlotte and back is invaluable.

At current gas prices I should save about $18 per week, plus wear and tear on my vehicle, and the firm reimburses riders for the entire cost of a monthly bus/train pass.

Plus I take my music with me.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
