Tell me madam/sir editor, did your parents have any children who survived?

News item on page 3B of today’s Charlotte Observer, ‘Ceremonies honor slaves who died on journey’ (I assumed as they crossed the Atlantic)

I continued on to the next page but those words began to take over my thought processes as my brain cells began examining the possibilities of what might be found if I went back and read the article. So I did. As my eyes began scanning my brain was racing ahead and I was saying to myself-

“They couldn’t.”

“They wouldn’t”

“Tell me they didn’t!”

But of course it now seemed inevitable as I read the following – “We must…honor our ancestors”

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
