Last night my wife was watching a segment of ABC’s 20/20 about why the crime rate over time in some areas has decreased. (NYC’s rate is the lowest since the 1920’s) She told me it was interesting and then added that she was thinking it was related to abortion. Turns out she was right. According to some research, 30-40 percent (?) of the crime decrease can be attributed to people who are most likely to commit crimes not being born in the first place. Fascinating. Recently, when thinking about it, I’ve compared the death penalty to retro-active abortion. If I only believed in predestination.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
