I know a place where mom, flag and apple pie…

…are being replaced by parole officer, the klan and crank.

A report by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation lists McDowell and Rutherford counties(adjacently located) as the leaders for methamphetamine lab busts in 2005.

In my 49+ years of living in the southern United States that same area is also the only place I’ve seen a group of robed KKK members holding a public demonstration.

I don’t think this is a coincidence.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

  1. So, the logical conclusion here is that speed causes utter foolishness and acts of retardation. Wow- I’m really grateful I never got involved with the stuff in college. *shudders*

I find it interesting that in the hey-day of “coke”, dealers were at the high end of the economic spectrum based on lifestyle, personal wealth, living large, high profile opulence, etc. People who deal in “meth” are at the other end; trying to keep a low profile, existing in apparent poverty or off the beaten path. (at least that’s the story here in NC)

In this case I think it is the other way around. Lack of certian mental capacity causes people to think that producing ‘meth’ is okay. (of course breathing the by-products only makes it worse, if that is possible) I wanted to say it was a southern trait but I’m sure it is just as bad elsewhere.
