Is eBay the new standard by which (not) doing the right thing is judged?

Example 1: A skull of some native Indian tribe member unearthed in Virginia a century ago and put up for auction on eBay was removed from bidding when it came to the attention of some authority on Indian culture then returned to the “tribe” for proper disposal. This act was deemed the right thing to do.

Example 2: A chair taken from the booth at Ford’s Theater where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated then passed down between generations until one family member felt it right to donate the chair back to the refurbished theater against the wishes of some who thought it better to put it up for auction on eBay.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
