I’d rather…

I’d rather have a library card
than a membership with Blockbuster or Netflix

I’d rather have memorized the phone number of one true friend I could call collect anytime
than a cellphone directory full of acquaintances and unlimited minutes

I’d rather go hiking alone without a camera among the natural wonders of the world
than view them in a crowded IMAX theater

I’d rather have one compassionate/passionate lover
than a long list of f**kbuddies

I’d rather be happy
than right

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

  1. See, the best things in life ARE free (or low cost).
I’d rather have a cup of store brand tea with a loving friend than a cup of mocha latte supreme with a bunch of backstabbing corporate twits.

I’d rather that the majority of the folks in this country felt the same way as you do
