it’s beyond me

In today’s pile of junk mail delivered by the Postal Service was a flyer advertising various items at ‘Bed, Bath and Beyond’. I noticed the front page contained nothing that would normally be used in bed or while bathing so out of curiosity I looked thru the other pages and found the same was true for almost everything shown. Back to the first page I noticed the “Exercise Punching Bag With Gloves” for $39.99 and took a closer look at the model wearing the gloves while hammering on the punching bag. I was struck how Hillary Swankish she appeared to be. No, I haven’t seen “Million Dollar Baby” and have no desire to. Once I read the plot and came across the spoiler the whole thing sounded too depressing. I can handle “depressing” in a movie where the protagonist dies, such as “Gandhi”, if the overall theme is uplifting and causes you to ponder the nature of humanity. (well, it caused ME to ponder) Anyway, the idea of using the image of a doomed character to sell a product seems ill conceived.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
