daily dharma (‘some of the dharma’ pages 71-75)

45 words on the “world’s creation” includes “open space, nothing, invisible, dimness, darkness”. Dave Thomas, playing the part of a drunken priest in a Sign-Off Sermonette sketch at the close of a ‘Second City Television’ episode said it best-

“In the beginning there was nothing
then God said “Let There Be Light!”
and there was still nothing,
but now you could see it.”

Reality altering substances, alcohol and narcotics by name, are condemned as “the great enemies to the seeker after truth” and “they are…deceivers”. (what about religion being the opiate of the masses?)

J.K. expressing doubt again; “What do I mean? There is nothing substantial to get a hold of. There’s something not clear in my teaching this…”,
and then he writes what maybe his most accurate statement, “I learn as I go along”

(Don’t we all?)

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
