acquired/dis-acquired taste

Sweating and out of breath from some weekend yard work, I decided to take a break and enjoy a cold Bass Pale Ale my wife was kind enough to buy and place in the fridge. Normally Bass is OK, though my favorite is Newcastle Brown Ale, but after finishing about half the bottle my tongue said “enough, I can’t take it anymore!”. I liked beer early in college, disliked it for most of my adult life, began to enjoy it again in my mid-forties but does this mean the pendulum is now swinging the other way? Maybe my body was craving water or Gatorade instead.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
