Due to forecasted showers yesterday afternoon I decided to settle in for some reading (Richard Farina – writer, poet, critic, husband of Joan Baez’s sister Mimi, killed in motorcycle accident days after publishing what turned out to be a successful novel in 1966) while listening to Brian Eno’s various “Ambient” style albums. My next door neighbor had rented a John Deere front-end loader/back-hoe for some serious landscaping this weekend and between the motor, beep-beep-beep when he was backing up and the occasional chainsaw buzz the reading wasn’t as relaxing as I had hoped for.
Once again for the umpteenth year, none of the recordings/artists receiving Grammys are on the shelves of my album/CD collection. Of course it wasn’t about the music at all if you read the article in today’s paper. More space was allocated for photos with commentary about what the attendees wore than was given to who won what.
