On TV tonight I notice there is a show about the nighttime soap opera “Dynasty”. I’m reminded how seriously some people took those shows. Back in the days when not everyone had those new-fangled inventions know as VCRs, your only option if you had a schedule conflict was to bring a portable TV to whatever function you were attending. Such is the case as shown (here) when a co-worker carried her TV to the 1980 office Christmas party held on the 23rd floor observation deck atop Florida’s capital building so she wouldn’t miss seeing an episode of “Dallas”.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.
