Surrounded by ‘politics’ and not realizing it.

Sitting outside a Charlotte area Starbucks this morning with a former co-worker when he stopped our conversation to comment on someone who just pulled up and got out of their car to enter the store. He noticed the bumper sticker on their vehicle said ‘more trees/less bush’ but pointed out the owner was decked out in Nike apparel. He commented that if they really believed in the environment then they wouldn’t be wearing Nike which isn’t known as a company who “cares” about the environment when compared to other manufacturers such as Patagonia or Columbia.

My opinion? I thought my grande hazelnut latte and cinnamon twist were exactly what I needed on a comfortable, slightly foggy/overcast October morning.

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

Yeah, well, I went to a health food store for the first time in years tonight after work and noticed everyone left with their purchases in plastic bags. I used one of my canvas shopping bags. They didn’t even seem to offer paper. Hmmmmm…
Your Hazelnut Latte and Cinnamon twist sound yummy.
