heavy metal shower

I’ve commented before about music in my life. When I’m feeling really accomplished or generally in an ‘up’ mood, one of several songs will come to mind which I will sing, hum or just ‘do-doot-da-doo’ to myself. “Moon River” by Andy Williams is one or maybe the theme to the TV show “The Wild, Wild West”. Singing in the shower is also an activity I associate with positive moods. For years the competition was between “Down on the Corner” by Creedence Clearwater Revival and “HonkyTonk Women” by the Rolling Stones. But both of those lost out several years ago to the one song I now prefer to sing, in its entirety. I don’t know whether it’s an indication of my overall mental state, my reaction to the world around me or a sign of the apocalypse, but somehow this-

Early in the evenin’ just about supper time
Over by the courthouse they’re starting to unwind(CCR)
or this-
I met a gin-soaked, bar-room queen in Memphis
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride(Stones)

was replaced by-

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death’s construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!
(so on and so forth)

‘War Pigs’ by Black Sabbath

How the hell did that happen?!

About Marcus

Who me? Introverted, neurotic, self-absorbed, increasingly cynical observer of human nature and part time social critic in hiding. Most of my life spent avoiding growing up. The naive idealistic passions of youth have evolved into the eclectic eccentricities of adulthood. Northeast Florida small-town native, related to people I can't relate to. Simultaneously my own best friend and worst enemy. Politically and spiritually unaffiliated, my personal ideologies put me all over the map or off it completely.

Ahahahaha. That is so funny because every morning that is the song I play before I go to work. I haven’t played that cd for at least a year and now it’s like my new theme song.
It has to have some kind of meaning.
