During my annual physical exam/health check-up today I received good news. My cholesterol was down to 180 from 244 a year ago. My secret? Smaller, healthier meals spread throughout the day and attempting not to over eat.(not always succeeding though) No medication, special diet or exercise program. I brisk walk one or more of my Irish Setters between 1-2 miles a day. For a 5’11” guy between 145 – 150 lbs. approaching his 48th birthday, I’m smugly pleased with myself. I can already feel the wrath of all those overweight readers who constantly are fighting weight problems. Well, if it makes you feel any better (and it probably won’t) I had to endure “turn your head and cough” plus the only time KY Jelly is allowed inside my body to get the good news.
Leaving the doctor’s office I immediately drove to Starbucks at Providence/McKee/I-485 to celebrate with an iced grande no-whip mocha and cinnamon twist. (my usual once or twice a week splurge)
Looking at my father’s side of the family tree, there is absolutely no tendency toward obesity so maybe it’s all in the genes.
So maybe I won’t check outta here anytime soon.
